Most beauty spas offer body wraps as a skin care treatment. They first started out as a way to tighten and firm the skin, but have only recently been used as a cellulite removal treatment. A body wrap firms the body, reduces excess fluids and helps to remove toxins.

Body wrapping works as follows. Elastic cloth or seaweed have different minerals or ingredients soaked into them. The cloth or seaweed is then wrapped around the problem areas. Often the cloths are heated to introduce sweating to remove the toxins. The whole treatment takes about 1 hour.

There are a number of materials and minerals that the cloths can be soaked in. These can include seaweed extract, coffee, exfoliate, certain muds, calming oils and cellulite lotions.

Many people report that they believe their bodies are firmer and slimmer after a body wrap. They also report that the appearance of their cellulite has diminished. One of the fantastic things about body wraps is that there are many other benefits besides reducing cellulite. Body wraps can exfoliate and soften the skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, reduce stress and improve your health.

Having a body wrap done can cost between $100 and $300, and so it can add up if you get the treatment done regularly. Lately, many people have been using home body wrapping kits which is a cheaper alternative. There are many kits available including those that are designed to target cellulite directly by including anti-cellulite gel, lotions and creams.

As with any cellulite treatment it shouldn’t be used in isolation. Other treatments such as massage, cream, exercise and dieting should be combined to produce the best result. You can do these treatments at home or have a trained beauty technician do it for you at your local spa.

While body wraps sound like a wonderful treatment for cellulite, there is one major downside. The results of the wrap don’t last. This means you will be required to have the wraps done on an ongoing basis in order to keep the cellulite reduction. The cost can therefore add up over the long term and you may want to investigate the home option.
